  • Social Care Wales confirms new Director of Regulation

David Pritchard has been appointed new director, replacing Gerry Evans who retired from the position in March.

Pritchard previously worked for the Welsh Government, leading work on social care policy and the NHS workforce. He will take up the role on April 29th, 2019.

Sue Evans, chief executive of Social Care Wales, said: “I am delighted to welcome David as our new director of regulation. David joins us at a crucial and exciting time as registration becomes mandatory for all domiciliary care workers next year and we open the Register of Social Care Workers to adult care home workers, too.”

Pritchard said: “I am delighted to be joining Social Care Wales during this exciting time for the organisation. I am looking forward to working with Sue, the Chair, the executive management team, the Board and the staff to build on the excellent work that Gerry and his team have done as we extend the Register to these new groups of workers.”

Evans leaves Social Care Wales after 16 years’ service, after joining the predecessor organisation Care Council for Wales in September 2002 to help develop workforce regulation structure. Evans was appointed director of standards and regulation in 2004 and later became director of regulation and intelligence and deputy chief executive.
