  • MMCG hold careers fair to recruit 70 staff for new home

Windsor Court Care Home, an £8 million care home under construction in Great Malvern, is holding a two-day recruitment fair on April 23 & 24 at their Covid-secure High Street showroom.

The private 51 bedroom care home is set to be opened by the Maria Mallaband Care Group (MMCG) this summer, creating 70 roles in care, hospitality, care support, and management – for those with no experience in care, to those with years of experience in the industry.

Job seekers looking to join the home are invited to a recruitment fair on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th April, to be held at the Windsor Court showroom, at 14 Church Street, Great Malvern, WR14 2AY.

This open-door drop-in event running from 9 am to 5 pm will be an opportunity to pick up information about the opportunities available, register details, and chat with some of the leadership team, including new care home manager Zoe Miller, Hospitality Services Manager Mike Lane, and Community Liaison Coordinator Ginny Peachey.

Annelli Chatfield, Group Commissioning Manager at Maria Mallaband Care Group, said: “As we move closer toward the opening of this fantastic new home we’re looking at the full recruitment of our start-up team – that will include nurses, senior care assistants, care assistants, receptionists, hospitality assistants, a wellbeing lead, kitchen porters, domestic staff and laundry staff. It’s a long list, which reflects the breadth of brilliant opportunities in the social care environment.”

“This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the core team that is going to launch a brand new purpose-built care home, and we look forward to meeting with potential future team members.”

The new care home will offer a luxury hotel-style environment with state-of-the-art facilities for the comfort and wellbeing of those living there – and to the benefit of staff – allowing them to provide the highest possible standards of care.

Facilities will include lounges, restaurants, communal areas, a bistro and bar, a hair salon, an eight-seat cinema which will be open to the community as well as residents (restrictions permitting), and beautifully landscaped gardens.

Zoe Miller, care home manager at Windsor Court, said: “We’re looking to build a team of like-minded people committed to providing the best care and the best experience for everyone living with us at Windsor Court.

“We’d like to speak with engaging, compassionate, creative people. Individuals who are self-motivated and passionate, brilliant team workers, with an enthusiastic and energetic attitude.

“For many of the roles you won’t need experience working in the care sector; it might be that you’ve worked in hospitality before and have lots of transferable skills, or perhaps another sector, and you’re looking for a new challenge.

“It’s exciting to be creating so many brilliant job opportunities, and we can’t wait to start meeting with candidates.”

The home is still under construction by specialist nursing home contractor Lawrence Baker Ltd on the site of the disused Malvern Community Hospital (which closed in 2011) in Lansdowne Crescent in Great Malvern’s conservation area. Work is on schedule with Windsor Court set to open in July.

Maria Mallaband has created a showroom on Church Street, where a mock-up of a bedroom and the corner of a lounge have been created to give people a sense of how the new home will look and feel.

The showroom, which is operating in a COVID-safe way, remains open as per the current lockdown restrictions and the carehome group is already taking enquiries about places. Masks must be worn inside the showroom and a social distancing system is in place.
