  • Mental healthcare for young people considered ‘inadequate’ by seven in 10 nurses…

A poll conducted by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) for The Guardian has discovered that seven out of 10 specialist nurses believe the NHS services currently in place to care for the growing number of young people coping with mental illness is ‘insufficient’.

The analysis found half of all mental health nurses working with troubled young people believe child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) are ‘inadequate’; in addition to a further 20 per cent say they are highly inadequate, and just 13 per cent stated current strategies are either ‘good’ or ‘very good’.
