The Lord Mayor of Newcastle has visited Exemplar Health Care’s £3.1 million specialist nursing home in Newcastle upon Tyne to mark its first-year anniversary.
The Mayor, Councillor Habib Rahman, was invited to cut the ribbon and unveil a plaque, to mark the official opening of the new home. The care home, which opened its doors to its first resident last September, has undergone a £3.1 million refurbishment to provide Newcastle with a new state-of-the-art, specialist nursing home for adults living with complex and high acuity needs.
Tyne Grange, a three-storey home, and Exemplar Health Care’s very first home in the North East, will support 22 adults living with complex mental and physical health conditions. The home has created over 100 stable jobs for people in the local area including health care assistants, registered nurses, and kitchen staff.
Every bedroom is equipped with an en-suite wet room, and, in addition, the home also has a large dining area, lounges and external gardens. The home also has a welcoming communal space, including landscaped gardens, for residents and visitors to enjoy.
The Lord Mayor of Newcastle upon Tyne, Habib Rahman said: “I am absolutely delighted to be here for the opening of Tyne Grange. The team at Exemplar Health Care have worked so hard over the past year and it’s great to finally celebrate the first anniversary of the home with its staff and residents.
“The team at Exemplar Health Care have given me a tour of the premises and it is great to see how the facility is tailored to support every resident. Exemplar Health Care’s team seem to be very committed to offering the best quality care they can and it is great to see the resident’s families here too”.
Tyne Grange’s Commissioning Home Director, Sam Cottam, at Exemplar Health Care, added: “We’re so thrilled to have officially opened Tyne Grange and to have received a warm welcome from the Lord Mayor, Habib Rahman.
“At Exemplar Health Care, we are passionate about employing as many local people as possible and we are pleased that we have been able to welcome local nurses and carers from across Newcastle to support our residents.
“All our colleagues have a real passion for delivering quality care for every resident, and we’re looking forward to becoming a part of the local community.”
