Every care home works hard to get the basics right: eating, drinking, washing, sleeping, medication and safety, delivered with dignity and choice. That is the foundation of person-centred care. But nobody’s best life is made by the basics alone.
At More Days Studio, we think about a resident’s life through the Good Day Hierarchy. Physical wellbeing and safety are the foundation. Above them sit the needs that make a life: belonging and connection; identity and significance; purpose and joy.
Most care homes evidence the foundation well. What is much harder is showing whether life above it is going well.
The Journey Score is how Studio measures that, every day.
After each session, staff record a short register for each resident: mood before and after, how they engaged and what sparked joy.
Every night, Studio turns the last 30 days of registers into a score out of 100 for every resident.
The score reads the hierarchy directly:
- Mood impact reflects purpose and joy.
- Personalisation reflects identity: how well sessions fit someone’s interests and life story.
- Social engagement reflects belonging.
- Participation and consistency show whether someone is taking part at all, so when a resident stops joining in, their score falls.
Every night is saved, so managers can follow each resident’s journey over 7, 30 or 90 days and see who is thriving, who is stable and who needs more support.
For homes using digital care records, Studio sends back a note to be added to the resident’s record.
The care is already happening. Studio helps you show the life.
