  • Advanced increases Ireland presence with CareWorks acquisition

Advanced has acquired the fast-growth Irish health and care company, CareWorks.

Headquartered in Dublin, CareWorks is a provider of cloud-based case management software for health and social care organisations including Tusla, the state agency for the protection of children in Ireland, as well as children’s and adults’ social care in Staffordshire in the UK.

Its 60 staff deliver solutions that are used by over 50,000 care professionals and clinicians and more than three million citizens.

Advanced already has a customer based in Ireland, which includes the majority of the GP out of hours services in Ireland, which is run by the Health Service Executive and private organisations such as Caredoc and NorthDoc.

Care professionals use Advanced’s clinical solutions to deliver community nursing and out of hours services to most of the country. This latest acquisition sees the company invest further in Ireland, leveraging CareWorks’ existing success while boosting its drive to deliver integrated health and care solutions.

As well as operating in Ireland, CareWorks operates in the UK and US, complementing Advanced’s presence in these locations. It has established relationships with government and public sector organisations in health and social care, which also adds to Advanced’s existing work with local authorities, the NHS in the UK and the HSE in Ireland.

CareWorks is the first acquisition announced since Advanced was acquired by funds advised by BC Partners, with Vista Equity Partners continuing as an investor. The investment, which closed last month, supports Advanced’s ambitious growth aspirations to become the number one provider of business software solutions in the UK, while expanding its global footprint.

“This investment is an exciting opportunity to expand our presence in Ireland,” comments Gordon Wilson, CEO of Advanced. “CareWorks is an innovative Cloud-based software provider we are confident will enhance our offering to health and social care customers. This acquisition will propel our ability to deliver interoperable software solutions, which will be essential in supporting the sector’s move to integrated care systems – helping to meet the Irish Government’s plans for health reform. It also extends our existing customer base across Irish organisations within the legal, education and health and care sectors.”

Michael Dolan, CEO of CareWorks, says: “This is good news for both our customers and our teams, adding capacity and market presence to our expertise and solutions. Being part of the Advanced family will help to spearhead the delivery of a fully integrated end-to-end health and care platform, with CareWorks an integral component. We jointly recognise the transformative benefits that bringing together health and social care will deliver. As leading software providers to that market, we are ready to support these integrated plans. We quickly saw the potential that bringing together our solutions into a single system could provide and see it as an incredible opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives.”

In Ireland, outside of the health and care sector, Advanced also works with organisations including Aer Lingus, University College Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, The National University of Ireland – Maynooth, The Agriculture and Food Development Authority, The University of Ulster and Queen’s University Belfast.
