DHSC launches free ‘Get Adult Social Care Data’ platform for CQC-registered providers

A new DHSC-backed digital service is opening up local adult social care insights for CQC-registered providers in England, giving care home operators quicker access to the kind of market intelligence that’s often time-consuming (or costly) to pull together.

Get Adult Social Care Data (GASCD) is a free platform developed with input from providers, designed to help organisations understand local population needs, commissioning direction and demand trends at area, regional and national level.

  • The tool can be used to support planning and growth decisions, including the ability to:
  • Compare bed occupancy against local averages
  • Explore disability prevalence by area
  • See which services are in demand locally

For senior care home professionals, this kind of data can strengthen business cases for expanding capacity, reshaping a service mix (for example, dementia, nursing, complex needs), and improving the evidence base in conversations with local authorities and ICB partners.

Access is currently being opened in phases. CQC Nominated Individuals for provider organisations can register now for early access via an online sign-up form, with invitations to join the service from late January.

Later in the year, nominated individuals will be able to add team members to the service, potentially useful for operations, commissioning, finance and development leads who need regular access to local insights.

DHSC has published demos showing how the platform works for care home locations and for home care and supported living, signalling that the service is intended to support decision-making across multiple models of provision.

For questions, DHSC has provided a dedicated contact: getadultsocialcaredata.team@dhsc.gov.uk.
