The care industry’s employee support organisation, Carers UK has set out its vision of a society that ‘respects, values and supports carers’, calling on the government to be bold as it develops its new strategy to improve the lives of those caring unpaid for disabled, seriously ill and older family members and friends.
Carers UK has carried out a broad review of how they support people now, and plan to in the future, to enable those to provide care without the risk of jeopardising their long-term financial security and health.
The organisation has submitted extensive evidence – which is primarily based on the real life experiences of carers – and calls for changes to financial support and making recommendations to build workplaces, as well as an NHS and care services which are ‘carer friendly’.
