NW Hearts Charity works with hospitals, healthcare settings and community groups to improve the lives of people living with heart disease in Greater Manchester.
There are around 7.6 million people living with heart disease in the UK. Heart and Circulatory diseases account for 1 in 4 deaths in the UK. This figure is even higher in Greater Manchester. The health of the people in Greater Manchester has been worse than the England average for many years, with a higher number of risk factors for heart disease.
NW Hearts Charity funds a range of projects across hospitals, healthcare settings and in local communities across the 10 Boroughs of Greater Manchester, all of which make a positive difference to the lives of local people who are living with heart disease, and their families. The projects they support, which are above what the NHS can provide, include:
Heart Services
Equipment
Facilities
Research
Education
NW Hearts Charity wants to improve outcomes for people with heart disease across the region. They believe that everyone should be able to access the latest treatments, and therefore benefit from the best heart health, regardless of their postcode or their background. They say they are determined to reduce the impact of heart disease on lives, over and above what the NHS already provides.
NW Hearts Charity relies on donations, fundraising and partnerships from caring individuals, businesses and organisations. They want to be able to award more grants throughout Greater Manchester to improve the lives of local people who are living with heart disease.
